Johnny Tremain is a children's historical fiction novel by Esther Forbes set in Boston prior to and during the outbreak of the American Revolution. This collector's edition decorated with woodcuts by Michael McCurdy (illustrator). Newbery Medal winner. First printing in fine condition, signed by the artist. Signed by Illustrator(s). book. There was a purpose in what happened to Johnny Tremain, but he couldn't see it at the time. Johnny had been Mr. Lapham's star pupil, a clever, industrious apprentice silversmith, if not always well liked, at least envied by all who knew him around Hancock's Wharf. His skills had even been admired by Paul Revere, the finest silversmith in Boston.

About the Novel: Johnny Tremain takes place at the dawn of the American Revolution. It includes such notable figures as Paul Revere, John Hancock and Samuel Adams; however, the story is told from the perspective of a young, down-on-his-luck boy. The story follows Johnny Tremain, a . Newbery Medal winner. When a crippling accident leaves Johnny Tremain unable to continue working as a silversmith, he finds himself caught up in the struggle for American Independence and witnesses the start of the War for Independence.

JOHNNY TREMAIN Music by GEORGE BRUNS INTRADA ISC Intrada's latest release from the vast Walt Disney catalog stretches back to , with George Bruns' music for Johnny Tremain. Bruns is best remembered for his scores to Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, and his adaptation of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty. Johnny Tremain takes place in pre-revolutionary Boston and is about a prideful (but slowly improving) boy who finds himself in the center of the independence fervor. Although I obviously cannot be sure of how accurate the descriptions are, I appreciated the book for doing such a great job at taking me back to the colonial era of American history/5(K).
